Yui Honjin Park and the Shizuoka City Tokaido Hiroshige Museum of Art both reach their twentieth anniversary in September this year.
To commemorate this special year, we are holding an exhibition that features a number of pieces of Makuzu- yaki (Makuzu Ware) from the collection of Tetsuhito Tanabe, as well as the Sixty-Nine Stations of the Kisokaidō and the Fifty-Three Stations of the Tōkaidō (Tōkaidō Hoeidō Edition), some of the finest works in our collection. Ukiyo-e prints which have been loved by artists and avid collectors overseas, and Makuzu- yaki, considered a lost ceramic style, was exported to other countries and has been experiencing renewed interest in recent years. We hope you will enjoy the duet of these masterpieces that stunned the world.

Yuri Suzuki “Playing with Sound” – Welcome to the world of experiential sound

The first solo exhibition in Japan of Yuri Suzuki,an artist/designer based in London. Yuri Suzuki explores the territory of sound and design, by developing devices under the theme of music-human relationship.His works with their hidden Pop-like devices provide enjoyment with unseen sounds and movement mechanisms and allow for discovery of the relationship between sound and people. As a experiential world where one can touch the artwork, visitors can actually play the works including Color Chaser and Ototo, which have just been confirmed this year for inclusion into the MoMA collection. Everyone from children to adults will enjoy this experiential world of sound.

Tokaido Highway – Portraits from Edo to the Present –

This exhibition presents works from the Edo period and present-day that capture the people of the Tokaido and features Utagawa Hiroshige’s Fifty-three Stations (Figure Tokaido) plus Fifty- three Pairings for the Tokaido Road series composed by the Utagawa-family of artists Hiroshige, Toyokuni III and Kuniyoshi. Also featured is Carl Randall’s Tokaido Highway, in which the artist retraces the steps of Hiroshige along the Tokaido and records the portraits of the people living there today expressing a timeless cross-section of Japanese society.

The challenge of 'breaking the master and disciple relationship between vessel and its motif' lets the motif to extend out of the frame of vessel. Her style of work is full of humour and displays a wonderful sense of energy as a young artist, her works do not limit themselves from the world of ceramics and interestingly appeal as installation work too. As well as ideas, there are comprehensive techniques of Japanese pottery that engages all kind of audiences.This exhibition features Masumoto's new works from Artist-in-residence at the Victoria and Albert Museum also, installations with a flock of geese.

Twice a month, CCC will open the Daikaiten-sai exhibit space for those who want to sketch. Finished drawings which are submitted can become part of the exhibit (drawings will be changed regularly).

The year long event by the Shizuoka native manga artist Shiriagari Kotobuki continues.
He takes it even further this year with his latest installation work "Dai Kaiten-sai" (Big Spinning Festival) updated especially for CCC. The popular Reading Room will continue with more of his latest works available.Various exhibits will be held throughout CCC over the year with a special program planned for the fall. Glasgow International is a world-renowned biennial festival of contemporary art, which attracts over 2,000 hundred visitors. In 2014, 52 exhibition was conducted by 155 world-renowned artists in all who were chosen from 24 countries, and 90 cultural program was conducted. “Garde of Russolo” by Yuri Suzuki, curated by Hexaproject and supported by Citizen M hotel was exhibited at the venue.

“The Nursery Alice” by Asami Kiyokawa

Asami Kiyokawa is an artist in the spotlight who broke into the scene with her embroidered photography series "Bijou Saishu" (Beautiful Girl Collecting) depicting popular actresses transformed into animals and plants. Her recent picture book series, which includes Kenji Mizawa's work "Ginga Tetsudou no Yoru" (Night on the Galactic Railroad), has also gained much attention with her glamorous and delicate worlds especially popular with young women.Presented in this exhibit are the originals of Kiyokawa's first 3D artwork which was made for the "Alice in Wonderland" based "Kodomo-beya no Alice" (The Nursery Alice), the latest in her picture series. Set upon a colorful stage, Alice changes into splendid costumes while continuing her journey of dreams and adventure.Please enjoy the delicate and gorgeous world of Alice as captured by Kiyokawa.

Osamu Watanabe “Sweets Sentiment”

It’s the first time big exhibition in Tokyo by Osamu Watanabe who is the first renowned person to create “face cream art” which decorates a variety of personal belongings. He is a up-and-coming artist who attracts a huge attention from media and other variety of genres as the “sweet prince” of contemporary art. The fairy-tale-like sweet works attracting many female, indicates new way of art questioning relationship between motif and decoration by information representation of a cream.
