“十八番” (Ohako)
Being one of the foremost areas of tea production in Japan, the traditional industry of tea box (chabako) production still lives on today in Shizuoka City. Works of art using these tea boxes will be on display for this exhibition. With the title of “十八番” (Ohako) – meaning one’s specialty – this exhibit will bring together 18 participants, including native Shizuoka creatives, from various genres such as manga, photography, architecture, graphic design, character design, product design, and contemporary art, who will present their own “ohako” of art work using a tea box. These art works born from a collaboration between traditional industry and creative artists are not to be missed.
