Keiko Matsumoto “motif/vessel” interview
Keiko Masumoto
b.1982; Hyogo, Japan Graduated from ceramic master’s course in Kyoto City University of Arts in 2007. From 2010 she has been an artist-in-residence at the University of Arts (Philadelphia, USA) also at Victoria and Albert Museum (London, UK) in 2013. Masumoto’s works with designs of old clay / motifs of decorations that is known to many, and constructs an imaginary world. Using values of craft and reconsidering the process of transition from daily necessities into the arts, she adds her own sense of humor and challenges the new interpretation of pottery.
