Joseon missions to Japan film development presentation, and “Joseon missions departing Sunpu / Shikoroku of the 21st century” will be screened at the Shimizu Terrsa. This is a film uncovering the history of the “miracle mission,” the day that the Joseon missions arrived in Shizuoka, Japan 400 years ago. The film was released as DVDs and distributed as teaching materials in all 171 public elementary / junior high / high schools of Shizuoka City. Shizuoka city commissioned the Shizuoka Contents Valley Consortium for the development of the film with a funding of 2 million yen in 2007. This piece films the diary of the [Joseon missions to Japan] = “Shikoroku,” as well as many records, drawings, and documents that remain in Japan. Artifacts were filmed with an HD camera and also serve as historical documentation passed onto future generations. Actor, Ryuzo Hayashi was responsible for the narration in the film and the director is Shizuoka-born Tatsuya Yamamoto, known for documentaries such as “Gym” and “Tsui no Sumika.” A Korean version was developed alongside the Japanese version. This film questions the significance of [Joseon missions to Japan] in modern day, through the eyes of both Japan and Korea.
