“JENKINS -Mysterious Casings in the City-“
the center for creative communications (CCC) presents an exhibit by US installation artist Mark Jenkins who is known for his packing tape works as well as street exhibitions. Jenkins is an artist whose works – such as a man with his head through a building wall or the placement of human or animal sculptures in unlikely places such as cafes, school locker rooms or even toilets – surprises the unsuspecting passerby. He has done installations in New York, London, Los Angeles, Sao Paulo, Bethlehem and other cities around the world, and in each place he has drawn much attention due to his unique style. With realistic life-szie sculptures he produces a Hyperrealism world where the viewer experiences an embrasure of reality and fantasy.
The exhibit “JENKINS” features his well-known tape sculptures as well as installations of his life-size human sculptures wearing everyday clothing and a video presentation of his street work overseas. Also Mark Jenkins himself came to Shizuoka from the USA to teach a workshop and present installations at various points around the city. Don’t miss out on experiencing the mysterious world that Mark Jenkins creates.
The JENKINS sculptures, which can appear anywhere, are so realistic they seem as if they will start moving any minute. Yes…it‘s as if they have come down from another planet; their mysterious force will be felt all over Shizuoka. Come and experience a dream-like world where human assumptions and reality are defied.
