Kouichi Okamoto
Born in 1970in Shizuoka, Japan. Released sound source work with Dutch techno label X-trax in 1997. Established Kyouei Design in 2006. With popular products such as ballon lamp and liquid bookmark, Kyouei Design products are now available in over 30 countries at design shops, stores and museums. He had a solo exhibition at Pola Annex Museum (Tokyo) in 2012 and has also exhibited and performed his works “musical table” and “lighting chair” at London’s V&A museum. He is active across genres from art and music to design.

CCC seminar “Art & Design – essential rules for new development products in overseas.

Art and culture is gaining attention as an industry of its own as people now call it the creative industry. Various designs and artworks are produced each year, but most disappear within a few years. Some say there is a secret rule in order to survive. This seminar will be inviting two speakers based in Shizuoka city who are active both nationally and abroad: Kouichi Okamoto (Kyouei Design) and Hideyuki Kume (NPO Hexaproject). The two speakers will be introducing a new rule in the art and design industry by looking back at the exhibition held in the V&A Museum (London/England) at The London Design Festival 2012.
